April Newsletter 2026

Dear Residents,
Let’s hope winter has finally left us.

Late last fall, before the town-wide leaf pickup was finished, we had a pretty good snowfall and a deep freeze. So, the final leaf pickup did not happen. The Village DPW staff will do a town-wide leaf pickup April 13–17. Please place the leaves as normal between the sidewalk and the curb. Also, Brush Pickup Day in the Village is Thursday, April 23rd.

Volunteer spring cleanup at the Recreation Park by the Pigeon Little League will take place on Saturday, April 11th at 9:00 am. Thanks to all of the volunteers that help to spruce up our recreation park for the season.

Installation of our new playscape equipment in the recreation park will begin in April. Also, the Village Council would like to welcome a new employee, Nathan Drabek, to the DPW.

Have a great spring!
Mike LePage
Village President

Annual Memorial Day Service
The Village is holding a Memorial Day Service at Veterans Park on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th. We would like to honor any Pigeon Area Veterans by reading their names. Please submit a Veteran’s name and branch of service to be read aloud at the service. If you have already submitted a name in the past, there is no need to do so again, we have it on file. Please submit a name by phone, email, or by dropping a note in the Drop Box. We invite all area residents to attend.

Yard Waste

Emterra’s yard waste pickup will resume on April 1, 2026. If you have branches, leaves, or grass clippings that need to be taken care of please take them to the DPW Garage at 70 N. Main St. Please do not place tree branches, leaves and other yard debris out in the street. It creates a hazard for other residents; and can make it difficult to clear snow.

Dead leaves on the street

Spring leaf pick-up

Spring Leaf Pick-up will be April 13th–17th. We are asking that you place your leaves on the grass between the curb and the sidewalk. Placing the leaves on the grass, instead of the street, enables us to pick up the leaves during wet conditions. Please do not place anything but leaves in the leaf piles.

Site Permits

Permits need to be obtained any time you add a deck, fence, shed, or addition to your property. The cost is $40.00. If you have questions or need a permit, contact the Village office.
